When
I attended last December's Christmas Toy Fair, I was hoping to fill a
large number of holes in my Marvel Universe Avengers collection. My list
of Toy Fair targets was very simple, it was composed of a lot of MUs,
five Joes, and two Iron Man figs. At the end of the day, I realized that
I had spent my entire budget for the event but only managed to get ten
figures off my list. How did that happen? Well, since there weren't a
lot of MUs during the event, I decided to buy other figs on impulse.
Surprisingly, my impulse shopping purchases didn't include a single Joe,
but it certainly included a lot of Iron Man and Iron Man-related toys,
including this cute Super Hero Squad figure.
This
super-deformed representation of Iron Man's Proto Armor is from the
Iron Man 2 Super Hero Squad Armor Wars: Part II three-pack. This figure
originally came with Titanium Man and Crimson Dynamo but I was able to
get this one loose without the two extra figs. I'm not sure why, but a
ton of similar figs were available during the event for only 50 bucks
(USD 1.10). It's as if somebody hoarded all of the Armor Wars: Part II
three-packs just for the Titanium Man & Crimson Dynamo figs. I hate
hoarders and scalpers but as long as they're selling the Iron Man figs
individually for cheap, I'm not complaining.
This is already my 27th SHS Iron Man/War Machine fig but I'm still on the hunt for more. I think Hasbro released at least 61 versions of Iron Man/War Machine in SHS form and that means I've got a lot of catching up to do.
